A native Texan, I was born and raised in Northeast Texas. Until I was about age 12 we lived in Hunt County, then we moved down the road about 30 miles to Rains County. My life changed greatly as we began farming and raising cattle - all new to me. At that time I had no interest in family history, not realizing that my Dad's family were pioneers in Hopkins and Rains counties. My Mother's people came from Georgia to Texas in the late 1800's. Like most kids of my time, right after graduation I headed for Dallas to seek my fortunes. I lived in Dallas for several years. I later moved to the suburb of Grand Prairie to give my son better schools. He and his family live nearby so I am twice blessed.

I retired a few years ago after 45 years with the science museum in Dallas. Now I am an avid ancestor hunter! My lines are Waters, Donaldson, Fox, Lowrey, Foster and many more!
