George Thomas Whitfield, Jr was an avid genealogist. He spent much of his life collecting and organizing data from eastern NC especially, Lenoir, Jones, Duplin, Onslow and Greene counties. Some of his cemetery transcriptions date from the 1950's. Some of the cemeteries he recorded have now disappeared. Although he never published his work, his loving daughter has kindly made it available to you here. You may view Mr Whitfield's memorial in the Westview Cemetery in Lenoir County, NC
