Bio

Hi,
I'm Brian and I've been a member of Find A Grave since 2009. I've been researching my family history since 2002. In 2011 I became a member of the General Society of Mayflower Descendants as a descendant of Richard Warren.

Genealogy is an interesting hobby and Find A Grave is a great resource.

Due to rising cases of Identity Theft via "ghosting" and tax fraud; approximately 2.4 million deceased persons identities are stolen each year (see Money.CNN April 2012), I have limited the personal information for each memorial I manage.

As a photo volunteer I will only take photos of headstones for persons born one hundred years prior to the current date. I've found some county clerks follow this practice when it comes to the release of personal information and I think it's a great idea.

I believe guarding against Identity Theft is owed to those who've gone before us and outweighs our want to further our own interest. I encourage other memorial managers and photo volunteers to consider this.

If you require detailed information, please contact the county clerk, health department, or genealogical society in the area where the deceased was born or had died.

Thanks for visiting :)
