Bio

My Husband was Herman Dewey Owens, son of James Ezra Owens, and great grandson of John Marshall Owens born May 1848 Pickens Dist. SC. His wife was Martha Jane (Mattie) Jennings, born 29 Jan 1858 Tyler Co. Tx., died 17 Nov 1917 buried 18 Nov 1917 Thornton Cemetery Limestone Co. We visited this cemetery years ago, and Martha only had a funeral home marker. She was right beside her husband. Evidently no stone was put up for her, because I don't see it in your records.(we noticed John Marshall's grave had no "s" on his stone, but his wife Martha did have one. Since John Marshall had no dates on his stone, we tried to have them put on by the government but they would not unless the stone was damaged.
John Marshall and Martha had 9 children:(1) Oscar,(2) John Marshall Jr;(3) Ella Mae who married Whit Popejoy;(4) James Ezra "Jim", who married Bertha Smiley (5) Luther Wain;(6) Roy D.;(7) Falby H. "Faye", who married Lucius L White;(8) Vera H. Ethel, who married Roy Lee Thompson and (9) Willie "L.M" who married Johnnie Elizabeth McGee
