Born in Omaha, Nebraska, on March 12, 1942, to James J. "Jim" and Cathryne A. Werner.

Raised Roman Catholic with elementary school at Saint Bernard's, Rose Hill, and Holy Name Schools in Omaha, secondary school at Creighton Prep, graduating in 1959, college at Omaha University, now University of Nebraska at Omaha.

Worked with Mom and Dad at Werner Foods, Inc.

Left Omaha for United States Naval Academy in 1960, graduated and commissioned June 1964.

Married Kathleen M. Winkelmann on June 27, 1964. She passed on May 21, 2018 and is buried in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Cedar Brook, NJ.

Travelled the world with the United States Navy and after retirement with a number of companies who owned or merged with a system engineering organization in Moorestown, NJ. Retired from Lockheed Martin in June 2003.

Raised 3 children, Kurt (4/5/67), Kent (1/30/68), and Katherine (5/15/70).

Kurt passed away on 4/9/2015 in a suburb of Syracuse, NY and was declared brain dead on 4/13/2015. He is buried in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Cedar Brook, NJ just above the 6 plots for Mom & Dad, Brother and wife, Wendy, Sister and husband, Ralph.

Established a 501(c)(3) charitable organization based on a call to ministry in 1989. Called it the Pilgrims of Faith Marian Center (PFMC), A Religious Association, Inc. and set up an internet site at www.pfmc.info.
