I have been researching my family genealogy since 2001. I had made a trip to my hometown in North Manchester, Wabash County, Indiana and realized I knew nothing about family background. I wanted to find out about my grandparents. I knew some of my grandmother's side but nothing of grandfather's. I have been somewhat successful so far in getting back 2 generation on his side. Been more successful on grandmother's side for have gotten 9 generation back.
I really enjoy walking the cemeteries and seeing the headstone. Plus looking up old obituaries and reading some of the other stories about the family in the old newspapers. Found out a lot about my dad and his brother's thru the articles.
I would suggest that we start telling our children and grandchildren about family history and get them involved in researching. It relaxes me and I enjoy putting together my family history into a scrapbook.
Plus all the wonderful people I have meant over the internet that I have found to be distant related to me.
