The War Mothers Memorial Plaque was dedicated on Sept. 11, 1919 for the Shoshone County, Idaho Soldiers who died in World War I. There are 44 names on the plaque. The Plaque had been stored in the Wallace Mining Museum until 2007 when it was given back to The Ladies Auxiliary VFW #1675 of Osburn, Idaho, for upkeep and maintenance and was re-dedicated on Veterans Day 2007. VFW Post #1675 was instrumental in returning the plaque to the original-owner donators, which is the Auxiliary. They also were a big part of the re-dedication. It now stands back in its original location on the Wallace Library grounds on the corner of River street and 5th street in Wallace, Idaho. The Wallace Rotary Club is also a sponsor of this plaque, they are responsible along with Zanetti Bros. for placing the plaque on the stone. The VFW Aux. plants flowers, does grounds upkeep, performs ceremonies and soon will be dedicating a flag and pole at this site with the help from Post #1675 members and other Veterans Organizations from the Silver Valley.
