OBITUARY
Taylor William Clendenin, of North Point Pleasant, W.Va., was born the
1st day of August 1848, departed this
life the 22nd day of November, 1920.
Aged 72 years, 3 months and 21 days.
He was married to Miss Sarah Kincaid Nov. 1st, 1882, and to this union
was born one child, who died at the age of 17 and on the 1st day of March
1914, Mrs. Clendenin passed out of this
life. On the 21st day of Nov. 1915, he was again married to Mrs. Cornelia
Kincaid, who with one sister, Mrs. Lena Ward and three step-children are
left to mourn their loss.
He became a Christian a number of years ago and united with the United
Brethren Church at Bethel. The funeral was held from the U. B. Church at
Heights, Rev. J. F. Baxter and Rev. Harry Miller officiating.
A large congregation assembled at the Church to pay the last tribute of
respect to his memory, and to offer
sympathy and condolence to the wife,
sister and other relatives.
hTe [The] music was furnished by the
Choir of the church and was solemn
and impressive. The floral contribu-
tions were beautiful and appropriate
bearing testimony of the love and esteem of the friends who contributing
[contributed] them. He had been a great suffer[er] for the past five
months, but through it all he bore it patiently without a word
of complaint, and had expressed a number of times that he was ready to go to
that better country. He was always
industrious and honest in all of his dealings toward his fellow man [and]
had made many friends. He had been a Member of the Order of I.O.O.F. for
nearly fifteen years. The Order turned out in a body and had charge of the
services at the grave according to the beautiful and impressive ritual of
the Order. The pall bearers were chosen from brothers of the Odd Fellows.
The body was laid away in Lone Oak to await the coming of our Lord.
