PLATTSBURGH — Mrs. Margaret M. "Peg" LaFave Gregoire McDevitt, 84, of Alford Blvd. in Plattsburgh, passed away Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, at her home with family by her side and under the care of Hospice of the North Country. She was born in Plattsburgh on Feb. 15, 1928, the daughter of the late Tellis and Esther (LaVarnway) LaFave.
Peg retired from SUNY Plattsburgh in 1991. She later volunteered at CVPH and BINGO at American Legion Post 20 where she was a member of the Ladies Auxillary. She also enjoyed bowling and golf.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Mary Ann and Frank Javorsky of Omaha, Neb., Bruce and Tina Gregoire of Foxboro, Mass., David Gregoire of Woonsocket, R.I., Donald Gregoire of Cohoes, N.Y., Christopher McDevitt of Cohoes, N.Y., Timothy McDevitt of Plattsburgh; her siblings and their spouses, Sally Ann Connors of Plattsburgh, Steve and Nancy LaFave of Rouses Point, Thomas LaFave of Plattsburgh; 19 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Her first husband Marcel Gregoire passed away in 1954. Her second husband William F. McDevitt passed away in 1987. A son, Terry Gregoire; her brothers, Peter, Jacky, Jerry, Gregory; and her sister, Thelma Rabideau also passed away earlier.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 1, at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St. in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 2, at St. Johns Church. Entombment will follow at Whispering Maples Mausoleum in Plattsburgh.
