Clinton Dewitt Thompson was the son of Samuel Berry Thompson and Polly Ann Worden. He was born in New York and moved with the family from Oswego, New York to Calhoun Co. Michigan. They were farmers and settled near the town of Albion and lived there fifteen years. The angel of death visited the home several times and the mother, Polly Ann Worden Thompson as well as several children died during those years. In the year 1852, Samuel Thompson and at least two of his sons, Clinton, DeWitt and Oscar Fitzaland moved to Iowa and settled in a village called Bradford, Chickasaw County. He married a girl named Betsey Jane. She is buried here in Nashua with her husband. DeWitt died in Nashua in 1893 at the age of 73 years.
