William John married Margaret Jane Dearth, daughter of William and Nancy (McVey) Dearth. Margaret, born August 17, 1872, died May 11, 1916; buried beside William John. William and Margaret had Mary Myrtle, Charles Arthur, Harley Ervin, William Crawford and Ella Leota, all born in Pleasants County on Bens Run. William was trained as a carpenter, was a contractor moving oilfield equipment, a blacksmith, a farmer and an oil production supervisor for the Reno Oil Company. He owned farms in Tyler and Pleasants Counties.

Wm. J. married Mary Ellen Flesher who died in 1927.
