Jefferson Medical Center. He was a native of Vacherie, La and a member of the
North Vacherie Volunteer Fire Department. He was a rice and sugar farmer and a
foreman for Becker Industries.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 74 years, Elma Torres Oubre of Vacherie.
One son; Edwin Oubre (Mary) and two daughters; Joan Lemoine (Earl) and Sandra
Bitterwolf (Gordon). Six grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Edwin J. Oubre and Marie Schexnayder.
One infant son; Errol Oubre. Three siblings; Neva Labat, Edwin Oubre, Jr. and
Bernice Abadie.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2010 from 9:30 am until 11:45 am
at the St. Philip Catholic Church in Vacherie. Mass of Christian Burial will be
held at 12 noon from the church with Fr. Christopher Decker officiating. Burial
will follow in the church mausoleum.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of H. C. Alexander Funeral Home in
Lutcher.
