Conway…James Heyward Hughes, age 91, of Hwy. 905, died Friday, October 12, 2012 at
Kingston Nursing Center.
Mr. Hughes was born in Loris, a son of the late John and Blanche Tyler Hughes. He retired
from Franklin Smelting Company and was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. Mr. Hughes
was predeceased by his wife, Catherine Mullen Hughes, one daughter, Patricia Schreiner,
one brother, John Hughes and one sister, Ninaree Barnhill.
Surviving are three daughters, Lorraine Oakes of Bristol, PA, Cathy Hughes of Conway
and Dawn Mackin (Ed) of Newtown, PA, eleven grandchildren, twenty four great-
grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren, two brothers, Billy Hughes of Conway
and Floyd Hughes of Rock Hill, SC, two sisters, Alene Hughes of Conway and Correne
Todd of Statesville, NC.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway
Chapel with Rev. Mike Kinlaw officiating. Burial will follow in Cane Branch Baptist Church
Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
