Donald J. Ament was born in Hopkinton, Iowa March 14, 1927 to Leo and Mary Ament. He was the oldest of 6 children (Grace, Leo, Leonard, Pauline & Wilfred). Don grew up on a farm in Iowa. He earned his living as a crop hail insurance agent. He passed away on Tuesday, November 17, 2015.
Don met his wife Elizabeth (Beth) Madden in New Jersey; they were married October 23, 1953. They lived in New Jersey for 4 years then moved to Iowa where Don established his own insurance agency. They spent their married life and raised their family in the state of Iowa. Beth died in June 1989 and Don spent the next 4 years traveling, visiting his daughters and seeing old friends. Don met Irene Johnson in 1993; they were married in 1995. Don and Irene have spent most of their married life travelling to see family, friends and to enjoy new adventures together….salmon fishing in Canada, horse racing in Louisville, Kentucky, and moving every so often. They lived in Arizona, Utah, Minnesota and finally settled in Reno, Nevada.
Don's survivors include his 2nd wife, Irene, his brother Wilfred, his sister Grace, his daughters Sara (Michael) Wright, Barbara (Quentin) Smith, Jill (Mark) Selvey, Candy (Mike) Barry, Rhonda Cortez and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Holy Cross Church, 5650 Vista Blvd., Sparks, NV.
