An Old Settler Gone

Mr. Charles K. Laird of Fairmount, died this morning at 10:155, at the age of eighty-four years. Ten days ago he suffered a paralytic stroke, which, coupled with a liver complaint and old age, caused his speedy dissolution. Deceased was born in 1818. He came to Indiana from Woodstock, Vermont, in 1821 and located at Paris, Jennings county, Ind. He moved to Natchez, Miss. in 1828. In 1831 he went back to Paris. In 1844 he went to Graham, Jefferson county, where he engaged in merchandising and pork packing. In 1872 he moved into his present home. Deceased was a consistent member of the Christian church. He leaves Mrs. Margaret Wilson, Mrs. Josephine Chapman, and Mrs. Caley Laird, by his first wife, Mrs. Brooke McTyre, Mrs. Flora McNeal and Miss Annie Laird and Graham Laird, by his second wife. The time for the funeral will be announced later.
