She was born October 21, 1926 in Blaine, KY, to the late Martin Asa and Sena Elizabeth (Van Over) Hay.
On August 16, 1943 in Paintsville, KY, she married L.T. Culwell, he preceded her in death on March 6, 2005.
Mary was a longtime resident of Marion and was a member of Stone Valley United Baptist Church in Mansfield, Ohio.
She is survived by her children, Ellene (John) Fragmin of Marion, Kenneth (Wanda) Culwell of Marion, Anna lee Gaskins of Marion, Paul Culwell of Marion, Elizabeth (Robert) Ricketts of Larue, David Culwell of Marion, Leonard Culwell of Marion, Benjamin (Patricia) Culwell of Texas, Christopher (Karen) Culwell of Marion, and Marsena Culwell of Marion; 19 grandchildren; 20 great- grandchildren with one on the way; four great-great -grandchildren; her brother, Hurley Hay of Michigan; her sister, Shirley Andrix of Plain City; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Edgar A. and William E. Hay; one grandchild; one great-grandchild; son-in-law, Larry Gaskins, sister in law, Mary Hay and brother in law, John Andrix.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Monday, October 29, 2012 from 7 - 9 PM at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, October 30, 2012 @ 10AM at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home with Elders Pat Gilliand, Tony Blair and Todd Scheiderer officiating. Burial will follow at Agosta Cemetery in New Bloomington.
