(Feb. 26, 1926 Newspaper) Avoca Man Dead. Avoca--Adolph Anderson, age 50, well known local retired farmer, died at the Jennie Edmundson hospital in Council Bluffs Saturday following an operation for cancer. The deceased is survivied by his wife and several children.

Adolph Andersen was born in Denmark, January 23, 1859 and passed away at the Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, February 20, 1926 at the age of 67 years and 28 days.
He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith in his youth.
In December 1881 he was united in marriage to Ann Katinka Miller, and in the early spring of 1882 he and his bride moved to America and settled in Avoca, Iowa. To them seven children were born. November 22, 1895 his wife died leaving him to care for six small children, which he did faithfully and well. In July 1916 he was united in marriage to Mrs. Margaret Hawkins.
He was a member of the Danish Brotherhood No. 128 of Avoca being one of the charter members.
He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife, three sons and two daughters; Chris, John and Carl, of Walnut, Mrs. Senn Maassen of Walnut, and Mrs. Georgine Pickerill of Avoca; three stepdaughters; Mrs. Anna C. Meyer of Geneva, Nebr., Erma and Ruth Hawkins at home, also 25 grandchildren. One son, Peter, passed away June 29, 1920 and one daughter in infancy. One sister, Mrs. August Matzen lives in Longmont, Colorado.
Funeral services were held at the home east of Hancock Monday afternoon conducted by Rev. H. P. Grinyer of Hancock. A quartette consisting of J. C. Plahn, Harvey Schnackel, Harry Lehnhardt and Jesse Minnick, accompanied by Mrs. William Deatherage provided the music. (More...)
