SALT LAKE CITY - Our beloved mother, grandmo her, sister and friend, Lola Crookston Harline Wilson, peacefully passed away Saturday, January 31, 2004 in Salt Lake City following a stroke and a brief coma. She was a wonderful lady and all who knew her and loved her, will remember her.
She was born August 24, 1923 in Logan, Utah a daughter of Byron and Emeline Crookston.
Lola married Alden Harline in 1941 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, and they resided in Ogden for many years where her husband was a well known physician. They had four sons and seven daughters. Alden died in 1965. Lola later married Bien Wilson, of Willard, Utah, and Mesquite, Nevada. They enjoyed many years of companionship together and attended the Willard 3rd Ward and the Mesquite 6th Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Bien passed away in 1995.
She loved being with her family and having her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren around her as well as Chico, her cat. She loved to go "yondering" and anyone was welcome to ride along. She had spend her last 25 winters in Mesquite, Nevada and summers in South Willard. Lola tried to leave the world a better place than she found it by driving friends on errands and to the temple, and listening to children read in the elementary school.
Surviving are her sons: David (Mary Jean), West Valley City; Carl, Salt Lake City; Joseph (JoLynne), Ogden; Ralph, Brigham City; daughters: Carole Buchanan, Roy; Louise (Jim) Spencer, Lawrenceville, Georgia Louona (Allen) Tanner, Sandy Myra Dalton, American Fork Lorena (Mike) Riche. Mountain View, California; Alice (Bob) Davis, Nairobi, Kenya; 27 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are one sister and three brothers, Donna Jenkins, and Lynn, George, and Ray Crookston.
She was preceded in death by husbands Alden and Bien, daughter, Geneil Davis, and an infant brother.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to grandson, Randall Minchew, for taking her "yondering" on her last adventure on Monday. We give our gratitude to the staff and nurses of St. George Regional Hospital and LDS Hospital who cared for her this past week. Anyone wishing to share their written thoughts with the family is invited to write them down so that they can be compiled in a book of loving memories. Please email to Harlinelgcomcast.net
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Willard 3rd Ward Chapel, 665 West 7615 South (one half-block east of Highway 89).
