Alice Doman Brown Wertman, 80 years old, of Miller Street, LaVale, MD, died on Thursday, September 23, 2004, peacefully at home. Alice was born on September 18, 1924, the second daughter of one of seven children to the late Edward and Nina Doman, in Romney, West Virginia. In addition to her parents, her sister, Katherine, her brothers, Robert, George, Ray, Earl, and her first husband, John Brown preceded her in death. Alice is survived by her loving husband of 39 years Harry Wertman, her son, John Brown, Winchester, VA., one brother, Charles Doman of Romney, W.V.; two step daughters, Carol Fisher and Diane Horvath, nieces and nephew, step grandchildren and step great grandchildren, Youngstown, Ohio. Also by step nieces and step nephews. Alice was a 1942 graduate of Romney High School. She retired after 27 years as a cashier for the A & P Supermarket in Cumberland, MD. Alice and Harry maintained a winter home in Florida for 18 years, the last 11 of which were spent in Haines City, Florida. Alice loved traveling, gardening, cooking, baking, and looking after her home. Friends will be received in the Hafer Funeral Service, Chapel of the Hills, 1302 National Hwy, LaVale on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Saturday at 11:30a.m. with the Rev. Bernadette Ross officiating. Interment will follow in the Ebenezer Cemetery, Romney, WV. Thank you to all the wonderful workers with the Western Maryland Health Systems Homecare and Hospice
