Orville L. Valett, 75, of Durant, died Wednesday, August 24, 1988, at the Wilton Nursing Home in Wilton.
Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 25, at Lacock Funeral Home in Durant. Memorials may be made to the Durant Ambulance Service in his memory.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 26, at Lacock Funeral Home in Durant, with Rev. Paul Pennington officiating. Pallbearers are Gerald Valett, Chris Schult, Gary Frisch, Randy Frisch, Wayne Hazen and Arnie Kempf. Burial will be in the Durant Cemetery, Durant, Iowa.
Orville Leonard Valett was born August 2, 1913, in Muscatine, the son of George and Daisy (Prichard) Valett. He graduated from the Muscatine High School in 1931. He married Alberta Veronica Hazen on January 25, 1936, in Nichols. He was employed as an agent for Sun Oil Company in Durant for 35 years, until his retirement in 1977.
Surviving are his wife, Alberta; two daughters, Patricia (Gary) Frisch of Durant and Karen (Daryl) Swansen of Blue Grass; one son, Gene (Charlene) Valett of Boise, ID; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Patricia (Earl) Darrow and Marilyn (Edward) White, both of Auburn, CA; and one brother, Burdett Valett of Hayward, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson and one brother.
