Lela B. Bown, 97, of Carlinville died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 1999, at Friendship Manor, Carlinville. She was born May 23, 1901, in Hettick, the daughter of William T. and Clarissa Mae Dundon Stayton. She married William H. Bown in 1919; he preceded her in death in 1960. She was also preceded in death by a son, Milton E. Bown in 1981. Mrs. Bown was a homemaker and member of Charity Baptist Church. Survivors: a son, Lindell Oller of Carlinville; a brother, Marvin E. Stayton of Scottville; and several nieces and nephews. Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Carlinville, with the Rev. Doyle Miller officiating. Burial: Charity Cemetery, Carlinville.
