Killed in action on 11 May 1943 during an air raid on the Great Yarmouth area that began at 8.45a.m. Also killed was Signalman F. Hall, 76th Divisional Signals. Notably, 26 all ranks of the Auxiliary Territorial Service were killed when their billet was destroyed; some were serving with Royal Signals including Private V. Mann.In all, 49 people were killed in the attack and a similar number wounded
