I remember her quite well. She was always "Miss Maude" to all of us in several generations of my family, and I never heard of her by another name. She actually lived with me and my parents in Martinez for several weeks in the early 1970's when her husband was in the hospital in Augusta.
However -- the federal censuses of 1920, 1930, and 1940 all list her as "Minnie M.", so she apparently always went by her middle name. I wasn't going to put in an edit for this since no one looking for her would recognize "Minnie Durden", only "Maude Durden", and it's not actually on her headstone.

Maude Fordham Durden
Swainsboro - Mrs. Maude Fordham Durden, 87, of 956 West Main Street, Swainsboro, died Friday morning at Bethany Home Nursing Home in Vidalia, GA. Mrs. Durden, a native of Bulloch County, had lived in Swainsboro for the past 59 years, she was a homemaker and a member of the Antioch Primitive Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Rudy (Mary) Durden of Jacksonville, FL., and Elder Mickey (Sylvia) Durden of Oak Park, GA; daughter, Lilla (Pat)) Patterson of Glennville, GA., eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren.
Visitation: 6 - 8 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home. Funeral: 3 p.m., Sunday, April 10, 2005 at Antioch Primitive Baptist Church with Elder John Shelton Mikell officiating. Interment: Church Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Antioch Cemetery Association c/o J. W. Gross, 76 Dunford Sconyers Road, Twin City, GA. 30471.
