Elaine Shields
Elaine Shields, 58, of Gridley died July 21, 2003, at her residence.
Born in Dover, Ark., she was a longtime Mid-Valley resident, moving to Yuba County as a child before settling in Gridley 34 years ago.
She and her husband owned and operated Shields Trucking in Gridley for 32 years. She also worked for the state of California as a rice/grain inspector for about 12 years.
She was a member of the Yuba City Quilt Guild for many years.
Survivors include her husband of 41 years, Richard J. Shields of Gridley; two daughters, (edited) of Gridley and (edited) of Orangevale; a son, (edited) of Gridley; her mother, Velma Boze of Linda; three sisters, (edited) of Live Oak, Fla., (edited) of Myrtle Creek, Ore, and (edited) of Prospect, Ore.; two brothers, (edited) of Chico and (edited) of Modesto; and five grandchildren.
Donations made to the Fremont/Rideout Hospice may be left at Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel.
Services: A graveside service is scheduled at 10 a.m. Friday at Gridley-Biggs Cemetary. Arrangements are under the direction of Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel.
