M.A.'s mother died of Brights Disease when he was 8 years old and his brother E.J. was 10 and both boys were sent back to his mother's family in Massachusetts where they received the rest of their education. He and his brother returned to Montana and were in the ranching business with their father.
M.A. married Mary Agnes Dore 2 Dec. 1912 in Missoula and they had four children; Phyllis Geneva, Marjorie Anne, Gene Dore & Leo Marcellus.
He served in the House of Representatives from Missoula in the Montana state legislature from 1937-1939. He was Democrat.
