In 1804 he was ordained a minister at the age of 32 and in 1813 he became Bishop. He served the Franconia Church as pastor after Christian FUNK. Before he was married he was a Schoolmaster, wrote in Fraktur and wrote Hymns. Later he was a farmer for 48 years on his wife's parents farm near the Ridge Road, Upper Salford Township.
His will done in German devises his farm of 80 acres to his sons Martin and Henry for 4,500 pounds. Fifty acres was woodland. This Kindig Farm was later owned by William K. GOTTSCHALL, then Jacob K. and Horace GOTTSCHALL. The Morwood Hotel is located on the North corner of this farm."
