In May of 1917, Ross Eldred's place of employment was Newark, New Jersey, and his occupation was "Ball Player", his employer the Newark Baseball Club. That year he played baseball in the International League for the Newark Bears.

Known as "Brick", Ross Eldred was a professional baseball player for 13 years, between 1916 and 1930, mostly in the Pacific Coast League. He played most of that time with the Seattle Rainiers and the Seattle Indians.

He became a member of the LaSalle Hall of Fame, and the Marysville Old-Timers Hall of Fame, and was elected to the Pacific Coast League Hall of Fame in 2003.
