David, was the son of Henry S. and Helena A. (O'Neill) Brown of Flat Rock Michigan. He entered service (Selected Service) in the U.S. Army on June 7, 1965 in Detroit. PFC Brown arrived for duty in Vietnam on December 19, 1965 where he was assigned to and served with B Company, 2d Battalion, 5th Calvary, 1st Cavalry Division, USAVN.

On February 17, 1966, during Operation MASHER/WHITEWING in Binh Dinh Province, in the Song Bien Valley north west of Phu My City the Army units engaged the enemy. During the confrontation 14 men were killed in the action, PFC Brown was one of the men who was killed by hostile rifle fire.

Honored on Panel 5E, Row 41 of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
