Lois K. Totten, 85, passed away on April 29, 2010. She was born in Endicott, NY, lived nearly 40 years in Vestal, NY and moved to Cary, NC in 1965. Lois was a member and Past Matron of the Round Hill Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, Endicott, NY, and a Past Great Pocahontas and member of the Degree of Pocahontas Council #347, Vestal Center, NY. She was a loving and caring person to both her family and friends, and volunteered at Dorcas Thrift Shop for many years. Her parents William P.K. and Beula Aten; her husband Harold J. Totten; her sisters Wilma Warren, Jeannette Petrolawicz, Beula Rossi, and Helen Johnson Cross; her brother Alfred Aten; her daughter Marjorie Hyder and her grandson Daniel Hyder all predeceased her. She is survived by one daughter Jeannette McMullen (Edward), Owego, NY and two sons James Totten (Margo), Cary, NC and Kirk Totten (Sue), Huntsville, AL; son-in-law Spurgeon Hyder, Holly Springs, NC; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and dear friend Sabra Watts.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Rd., Cary, NC. The funeral service will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Brown-Wynne Chapel, Cary with Pastor Mitch Lockamy officiating. In lieu of flowers, send donations to the Dorcas Thrift Shop, 1231 NE Maynard Rd., Cary, NC 27513 or Shiloh Baptist Church Building Fund, 3514 North Shiloh Street, Garner, NC 27529
