Rita T. Crouse Luther

YORK - Rita T. Crouse Luther, 86, died Friday, October 19, 2012, at York Hospital. She was the wife of William N. Luther of York, and the late John E. Crouse.
Mrs. Luther graduated from Altoona Senior High School in 1943. She worked at Letterkenny Ordnance Depot in Chambersburg and the Naval Ordnance Plant in York prior to having a family. Upon returning to work, she was employed by Columbia Gas Company. She also worked as a secretary to her husband in the York County District of State Farm Insurance Company.
She was active in the PTA of Jacob L. Devers Elementary School, where she was awarded a Life Membership to the PA State PTA. She was also a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Auxiliary of Lutheran Social Services. She was a former member of Starlight Chapter #509, Order of the Eastern Star, both the Cotillion and Phoenix Dance Clubs, and several bridge clubs.
Born January 5, 1926, in York, she was the daughter of the late Frederick A. and Blanche (Wagner) Trone.
She leaves a son, Michael A. Crouse and his wife, Joan of New Freedom; a daughter, Barbara E. Fillmore and her husband, Gary of Cave Creek, Ariz.; two granddaughters, Rebecca and her husband, David Reina, and Erin, both of Washington, D.C.; and a great-grandson, Thomas M. Reina.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca J. Crouse; a brother, Frederick; and a sister, Marcia.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2012, at Zion Lutheran Church, 2215 Brandywine Lane, York, with her Pastors, The Rev. Stanley W. Combs and The Rev. Dr. Janyce C. Jorgensen, officiating. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Kuhner Associates Funeral Directors, Inc., 863 S. George St., York (the former Hahn Home), is in charge of arrangements.
