MRS. A. HILEMAN DEAD.
PEACEFULLY PASSES AWAY EARLY YESTERDAY MORNING.
The Death Angel visited the home of Mr. Alec Hileman, situated two and one half miles east of town, early yesterday morning and took a loving wife and an affectionate mother from those who loved her.
It seems hard that the pall of sadness should be dropped over this once happy home, but if God should draw the curtain of Heaven aside and give us one glimpse of the Celestial City, we would no doubt day, "It is well this good woman has been removed from her suffering here below to dwell forever in supreme happiness with her Christ Jesus." For Mrs. Hileman was a good Woman, a conscientious christian, and there's no doubt but that the Merciful Father took her home that she might receive the reward of a righteous life.
Mrs. Hileman had been ill for several months with a complicated disease, and her recovery had been despaired of for some time. She was a patient sufferer throughout and death came as her only relief.
Miss Almida Adams was born August 26, 1942, near Lexington, Illinois. He mother died at an early day and she removed to this city after the death of her father, which occurred when she was only seven years of age, and made her home with the different Cunningham families and David Cary. She was married to Mr. A. Hileman on August 30, 1866, shortly after Mr. Hileman had been mustered out of the Union army, the wedding taking place at the home of David Cary, situated only about a half a mile north of the place where she died.
After a ten year residence near this place she removed with her husband to Elk county, Kansas, where she resided for over twenty years. She returned to this city about a year and a half ago, where she resided until her death.
Mrs. Hileman was a christian lady during her whole life, having united with the U. B. church in girlhood. Later she united with the Christian church and remained an advocate of that faith until her demise.
Seven children were born to this union, five of whom are living, viz, Bessy Myers, residing near town, Kate Flegular, of Elk county, Kansas, James, of Allen county, Kansas, and Miss Carrie and Frank, who reside at home. Besides her husband and children, she also leaves an uncle, M. Adams, and a large circle of friends to mourn her demise.
The funeral services were held at the Christian church today at 10:00 o'clock, Rev. Lappin officiating. Chas Burns, Theodore Kensil, E. Garrett, James Taylor, Levi Heavelin and Joseph Myers acted as pall bearers. The remains were laid to rest in the South cemetery (AKA Riverside Cemetery).
The family wish to extend thanks to all those who so kindly assisted during their bereavement.
