Helen, who often went by her middle name of Bruce, was the daughter of Robert Davis Lucy and Eva Mae Burge. Helen was my maternal grand aunt.

Helen grew up in Sturgeon VA with her parents and her 5 siblings :
- Hubert Davis Lucy born 15 Oct 1890
- Bessie Mae Lucy born 17 Oct 1892
- Anna Mae Lucy born July 1899
- Virginia Elizabeth Lucy born about 1902
- Eva Lucy born about 1908

Helen left home relatively early as in the 1920 census, at about 24 years of age, we find her living as a boarder in the household of Bernard and Mary Brown in Richmond. She is working as a clerk in the wholesale coffee industry.

12 July 1920 she marries Emmett Wilson Roberts in Richmond VA and from this union I only know about 2 children :
- Eleanor Louise Roberts, born 10 July 1921, who married Louis Green Roberts (no relation).
- Virginia Roberts, born about 1923, who married Walter Kolb.

Helen spent most of her adult life in Sturgeon VA with her husband and family helping out on the family farm. Some time after 1940 they move to Richmond, giving up the hard life of farming.

1955 Richmond City Directory lists her and Emmett living at 2707a Floyd Ave in Richmond VA where he is working as a watchman for a railroad container company.

12 Mar 1962 - Her husband Emmett passes away.

1 Dec 1967 - Helen passed away in a local Richmond VA hospital of heart failure. The article mentions she worked at Miller & Rhoads.

From Wikipedia :

Miller & Rhoads was a Virginia-based department store chain. Throughout its 105-year lifespan, the store played an active role in the Richmond, Virginia community, along with its friendly cross-street rival Thalhimers.
The Richmond flagship location was known for its "SantaLand" upstairs attraction, which has since become an attraction at the Hilton Garden Inn.
In 1987 Miller & Roads was bought out by Campeau, then sold to Philadelphia developer Kevin Donohoe and store management before closing in 1990.
