Deceased Name: Mable Elmyria Mitchem
Age 77, of Corunna, passed away Monday, March 30, 2009, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Jennings-Lyons Chapel, Owosso. Pastor Rodger D. DeVore will officiate. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Vernon Township. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today and from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with family present 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Jennings-Lyons Chapel.
Mable was born in Cohoctah Dec. 7, 1931, the daughter of Wilmer and Lillian (Mitts) Ogg. She resided most of her life in Shiawassee County. Mable married Milton Mitchem June 12, 1970 in Linden.
Mable retired from GM Chevy Plant of Flint. Mable enjoyed visiting the casino and loved to travel in their motor home. She will be remembered as a good cook. Family was a very important part of her life.
She is survived by her husband Milton "Bud" Mitchem of Corunna; daughter Cheryl and Dwight Luick of Lansing; grandson Timothy and Rebecca McCallum of Vernon; two great-grandchildren, Kallah McCallum and Maya McCallum, sister Leora and Tom Townsend of Linden; sister Clara and George Davis of North Carolina; brother Wilmer and Eleanor Ogg of Dryden; and sister Lois and Dennis Dailey of Corunna. Mable also is survived by many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four children, Bruce, Sandra and two in infancy; two brothers, George and Jarvis Ogg; and two sisters, Shirley Street and Margaret Ogg.
