John Connell of 815 C street, Fairbury, Neb., passed away Friday, Jan. 17, 1964 in a local hospital, after two weeks illness, at the age of 77 years and six months.
John Patrick Connell, son of John Connell and Mary Fagan Connell was born near Gladstone, Neb., June 15, 1886.
On Feb. 20, 1912 he was married to Elizabeth Gertrude Hruska and to them four children were born. The couple farmed near Gladstone, retiring in 1950. They remained on the farm until moving to Fairbury last October.
Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers and one sister.
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth; two daughters, Marie, Mrs. Leslie Naiman of Hebron and Mrs. Lola Cloyd of Fairbury; two sons, Bernard of Wichita, Kas., and John of Gladstone; two sisters, Mary and Katherine Connell, 14 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Rosary was Monday evening at Nuckolls-Meyer chapel and Mass was at St. Michaels church at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning with Msgr. D. L. Barry officiating. Pallbearers were Leo Gibson, Quinten Gibson, Arnold Georges, Nicholas Cunningham, Wayne Siebenneicher and Carl Johnson. Interment was in the Fairbury cemetery.
Friends and relatives attending the services from a distance included Eddie Cloyd of Westminster, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. William Cloyd of Council Bluffs, Ia., Mrs. Hilda Thompson, of Omaha, Mr. and Mrs. Don Winkler and Miss Angeline Naiman of Lincoln, John and Mary Cunningham of Denver, Colo., John and Patrick Connell of Shenandoah, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Birkholz of Kansas City, Mo., and Bernard Connell and family of Wichita, Kas.
