MRS. S. B. RIGGS DEAD
Mrs. Evadne W. Riggs died suddenly at 11 o'clock last night at her home, 1127 Neosho Street. Mrs. Riggs was in her usual health yesterday. Shortly after she retired she said she was sick, and died within a few minutes. Acute dilation of the heart was the cause of her death.
Mrs. Riggs, who before her marriage was Miss Evadne Withers, was born in Georgetown, D.C., January 21, 1835. The early years of her life were spent in Virginia and Kentucky. She was married October 12, 1853, at Portsmouth, Ohio, to S. B. Riggs, who died seven years ago. With her husband, she came to Kansas and Emporia in 1860, where she lived continuously until her death.
Mrs. Riggs is survived by two daughters and one son, Mrs. Alma Finley and Charles N. Riggs, of Emporia, and Mrs. W. A. Gardner, of Chicago. Mrs. Gardner is expected here tomorrow. Mrs. Riggs was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon, at the home, and will be in charge of Dr. W. C. Templeton, of the First Presbyterian Church. The interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery.
