~ THOMAS DURKIN IS LAID TO REST ~
A life, rich in its accomplishments, was brought to its close on Tuesday evening, December 11th, 1923, when Thos. Durkin passed from this Life, having reached the age of fifty-eight years, four months and thirteen days. The Grim Reaper came to him at his farm in the Town of Moscow, which site had been his home since birth. An illness of several years was terminated by a stroke of paralysis.

Thomas, the son of Thomas and Bridget Durkin, was born July 28th, 1865. He continued to make his home in this community through childhood and youth. At an early age he began farming, which vocation he followed all of his life with signal success.

At Monroe on October 5th, 1891, he was united in the holy bonds of matrimony to Miss Bridget Collentine. The young couple were blessed with seven children, one of whom, (Ruth) preceded her father in eternal rest five years. The sons and daughters who with their mother survive, are: Lenora, Mrs. F.D. Regan of Hollandale, Laura of Milwaukee, James, Agnes, Morris and Howard at home. Brothers and sisters who are left are: Mrs. Anna Gavigan, Blanchardville; Mrs. Mary Cullen, Belmont; J.J. Durkin, Friendship; Michael Durkin, Long Beach, Calif; Will Durkin, Alberta, Canada; and James Durkin.

Deceased was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, where funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. McMahon, Monday morning at 10 am. The large concourse of friends who came to pay their last tribute to a worthy man bears witness of the universal esteem in which he was held. Interment was at Calvary. The pallbearers were: Thomas Hardyman, Thomas F. Burns, S.T. Shanley, Maurice Ducey, Owen Kelly and William McCloskey.

To the sorrowing family is extended the sympathy of all.
