Geraldine (Gerry) moved to New Mexico and married William "Bud" D. Hepler in March of 1946 after a year long pen pal romance which started when Bud found a letter in a foxhole on the beach in Normandy.
Bud passed away just days after their 65th wedding anniversary.
Gerry then moved to Spanaway, WA to live with her daughter whose family enjoyed caring for her until her death.
Geraldine has three children, William M. Hepler, Patricia (Mohammad) Qavi and Lorraine (Matthew) Kuzior, fifteen grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Geraldine enjoyed gardening, and traveling to visit friends and family. Her three sister-in-laws, cousin, nieces and nephews, friends, and her puppy all love and miss her.
Geraldine was an elementary school teacher, teaching two years at Otis, two years at Holloman Air Force base, and 23 years at Daniel Fernández in Los Lunas retiring in 1993.
Geraldine is together again with her beloved Bud at the Veteran's Cemetery in Santa Fé, New Mexico.
In lieu of flowers a donation to the Alzheimer's Association in her name would be much appreciated.
