The Cook County Marriage Records show that Mary Monahan, age 21, married William Henry Braniff, age 23, at Holy Family Catholic Church of Chicago on 30/Jan/1878.
The Chicago city directory of 1889 shows his name to be William H Braniff. No Henry W. Braniff listed.
The 1900 US Census has Mary Braniff a widow at that time, so her husband had died after 1890. The 1880 US Census lists his name as William Braniff, married to Mary Braniff, living in Chicago with his brother and sister.
The 1870 US Census lists his name as William Braniff living with his brother and sister in Chicago. The 1860 US Census lists his name as William H Braniff and living in Albany, NY with his brother and sister, same persons that I'm referring to above.
There is no Henry W. Braniff listed in the US Census in Chicago, and certainly none who married a Mary Monahan.
