He was born Dec. 13, 1923, in Los Angeles and resided in Yucaipa since 1978.
He served his country during World War II in Germany and held the rank of staff sergeant.
He was a heavy equipment operator and eventually operated his own business, Critchfield Construction Company.
After retiring at the age of 60, he enjoyed traveling, fishing and vacationing in his motorhome with his wife and grandchildren. His family was the love of his life.
He was a member of the Elks and NewLife Christian Fellowship.
He is survived by his wife Delores of Yucaipa; three daughters — Brenda McAtee of Bishop; Terri Hickey and Peggy Irgang and her husband Karl of Yucaipa; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Oct. 16 at 12 p.m. at NewLife Christian Fellowship at 940 Second St. in Calimesa. He will be laid to rest Oct. 16 at Riverside National Cemetery.
