Patrick N. Flood, with great peace and dignity passed from this earthly place of existence on Monday, Feb. 16, 2009. He was at home in the embrace of his loving family in the capable compassionate care of Mesilla Valley Hospice. He was born Oct. 31, 1929, in Pittsburg, Pa., to A. Patrick and Opal Brown Flood. Patrick served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. During his life, he worked as a social worker for the Bureau of Indian Affairs and a mail handler for the United States Postal Service. Patrick was a communicant at Holy Cross Catholic Church.
Survivors include his loving wife, Joann A. Flood of the family home; three sons, Stephen Flood and wife, Laura, of Corona, Calif., Andrew F. Mara and wife, Miriam, of Fargo, N.D., Michael Flood and wife, Laurie, of Austin, Texas; a sister, Virginia Dailey and husband, Jack, also of Austin, Texas. Other survivors include five grandchildren; five sisters-in-law, Louise Jetson and husband, Harold, of Spring Grove, Minn., Helen Harvey and husband Fred, of Taopi, Minn., Rita Sundry and husband, Tom, of Rochester, Minn., Sharon Hayes of Moorhead, Minn. and Sue Winters and husband, John, of Minneapolis, Minn., as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Larry Hayes.
Visitation for Patrick will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009, in Baca's Chapel of Prayer, 300 E. Boutz Road where the prayer vigil is scheduled for 7 p.m. Family and friends will join together to celebrate the Funeral Mass at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009, in Holy Cross Catholic Church, 1327 N. Miranda with Reverend Gustavo Barrientos officiating. Cremation will follow and inurnment of cremains will take place at a later date in the St. Francis Columbarium.
Serving as casket bearers will be Stephen Flood, Andrew Mara, Michael Flood, Harold Jetson, Fred Harvey and Jack Dailey.
The Flood family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Baca's Funeral Chapels, 300 E. Boutz Road to direct funeral services. (575) 527-2222
