Roger was a 1946 graduate from Boonsboro High School. He was a United States Navy veteran who provided faithful service from 1946 until 1949. Roger was retired from the Maryland Department of National Resources, having worked as the manager of the Albert Powell Fish Hatchery near Hagerstown, Md. He was a member of Beaver Creek Christian Church, where he had served as an elder and chairman of the board.
Roger joined the Sharpsburg Lions Club in 1957 and served as the district governor of Lions International District 22-W in 1976-77. He was a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow with Lions International and an Arnall Patz Fellow with the Lions Vision Research Foundation. Roger was a lifetime member of Morris-Frock American Legion Post 42 and Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge 378, both in Hagerstown. Most recently, he was a member of the Hagerstown Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Aldeth Valerie (Wade) Moore; two sons, Craig E. Moore and Wade M. Moore; and one sister, Lois Leatherman. He is also survived by his five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his son, Roger S. Moore, and his brother, J. Maurice Moore.
The funeral service will be held at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, Boonsboro. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Sharpsburg.
