Leahman A. Faulkenbury

The funeral for Leahman A. "Lee" Faulkenbury, 91, of Ottawa will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. The Rev. Larry Valentine will conduct the services. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 7 to 8 p.m Thursday at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home. The casket will be open at the funeral home, but not at the church.

Memorial contributions to St. Andrew's Church can be sent o the funeral home.

Mr. Faulkenbury died May 14, 2001, at Ransom Memorial Hospital in Ottawa.

He was an engineer with the Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad for 33 years before he retired in 1975.

Leahman A. Faulkenbury, the son of Benjamin Franklin Faulkenbury and Rosa Bell Faulkenbury, was born Dec. 7, 1909, at Alton, Mo. He graduated from Newton High School, where he was senior class president and a member of the Railroaders basketball and tennis teams. He attended Bethel College.

He married Eva Marie Paul on Nov. 11, 1933, at Newton. She died Dec. 18, 1986. He married Imogene Russell in November 1987. She died Aug. 1, 1999.Mr. Faulkenbury was a longtime member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church and St. Andrew's Vestry. He also was a member of Emporia Masonic Lodge 12, Brotherhood Locomotive Engineers, the Emporia Country Club, the Men's Golf Association and the Hole in One Club.

He is survived by a daughter, Prudence Schmidt of Emporia, three granddaughters, Jenifer Hendrix of Emporia, Sarah Hendrix of Seattle, Wash., Stephanie Faulkenbury of Orlando, Fla.; and four great-grandchildren. A son, Leahman Lawrence "Larry" Faulkenbury, and a grandson died earlier.
