She loved history and her French heritage. She loved her French music and her French language.
At her brother's request she sewed the first Drapeau Des Creoles for CREOLE INC., a non-profit organization for the promotion of the Creole culture in Louisiana. That flag now flies in front of city hall, Lafayette, La., and several schools in the state.

She died after a long fight with cancer.
