Bernard Earl Allender a former resident of Norton, and more recently a resident of Elkins, departed this life early Saturday morning, Jan. 16, 2010 at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center's Presbyterian Hospital, after a long illness. He was 74 years old.

Bernard was born Saturday, July 13, 1935, in Norton, WV. He was a son of the late Dewey Ernest Allender and Hazel Vanscoy Allender.

He is survived by his wife, the former Johanna H. Kess. He is also survived by three daughters, Brandy Sizemore and Crystal Allender, both of Powellton and Pamela Clehm of Lawton, Okla.; six grandchildren, Kristina, Michael and Michelle Sizemore and Dylan, Terry and Ethan Clehm.

Bernard was a graduate of the school at Norton. He had worked as a meat cutter, was a self-employed TV repairman and stay at home dad. He was a member of the Beverly Community Church. Bernard was a loving father, grandfather and friend who will be sadly missed.
