Mrs. Margaret Mary Backus, wife of Asa Howard Backus, died at her home, 68 Lincoln Street, Wednesday evening, after a long illness. Besides her husband, she leaves a step-son, Janes M. Backus of Nichols, N.Y., two grandchildren and one greatgrandchild. The funeral will be held privately at the funeral home of Newkirk & Whitney, 985 Farmington Avenue, West Hartford, Saturday at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Zion Hill Cemetery.
