The death of Byron Servies of Chicago, son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. John Boonstra, occurred last Sunday afternoon at the St. Elizabeth hospital, Lafayette. The body was brought to the Kleinsmith funeral home here.

Although Mr. Servies had undergone surgery to correct a hernia condition 12 days earlier, he was regarded as in good condition and his death was unexpected. The cause was a pulmonary embolism.

Born at Crawfordsville, May 3, 1899, he was one of 13 children, only one of whom preceded him in death. He was a graduate of Northwestern University and Kent law school and held a responsible position as counsellor for the firm of Marsh-McLennan, insurance brokers, and also was secretary of its board of directors.

On Sept. 27, 1919, he was married to Mildred Boonstra. She and three children, James, David and Phyllis, survive. Other survivors are a granddaughter, five sisters and six brothers. One brother, the Rev. John Servies, is pastor of a Christian Church in Crawfordsville and another, the Rev. Voris Servies, is pastor of the Methodist church at Kentland.

Funeral services were conducted in the Congress Street Methodist church in Lafayette Wednesday afternoon by the Rev. Earl Heimburger. Burial was in Rest Haven cemetery.
