Known by generations at St. Alice and later Holy Family churches as the "Lunch Lady" and the "Hat Lady," her century of life was marked by characteristics of dedication to hard work, a tradition of caring for the lunchroom at St. Alice and later Holy Family churches and meeting the needs of her family.
She and her husband operated a restaurant known as the Spider Vine for several years, and as a devoted parishioner she served in the Altar Society, The Blue Army, The Young at Heart and the Catholic Daughters of America.
An early-day recipient of her kindness as the lunch lady said, "I am certain hundreds of children, now adults with children and possibly grandchildren of their own, look back and can see the smiling face of the St. Alice School 'lunch lady,' Adeline Buehrig."
Adeline was preceded in death by her husband, Edmund Fredrick Buehrig; her infant son, Bernard; her brother, Dennis; and her great-granddaughter, Corinne.
