Son of Solomon and Sarah Elizabeth (Snow) Hopkins

He is descended from the Snows and the Hopkins. They sailed on the Mayflower from England, and landed in Plymouth in 1620, along with the other pilgrims.

Boston Waterfront pass for Hugh Ausborne Hopkins, employee of Suffolk Engraving & Electrotyping Co, 394 Atlantic Avenue, Boston, issued March 14, 1918.

He was an artist and lithographer by trade, working for Forbes Lithograph Co. of Boston.

He died of lead poisoning from constantly moistening his pen nib on his tongue which had been dipped in India black ink which was full of lead.

Gravestone for Hugh Ausborne Chisholm.

He is buried next to his sister, Nellie Clayton Hopkins who had married William Franklin Chisholm. Hugh & Nellie lost their parents when Nellie was still in High School in Somerville. He went to work, bought a house where they lived & she kept house. They attended Faulkner Methodist Church in Malden where she met Frank & they married. They all 3 lived in Hugh's house. Once the children started arriving (of which there were 6), Hugh moved out and lived with Frank's parents. He remained a very close member of the Chisholm family. When his sister died early, he was a second father figure to the children. He was his nephews Best Man.

Hugh Ausborne is the Best Man for his nephew, Ausborne Hopkins Chisholm's marriage to Evelyn Frances Libby in Pownal, Maine, May 10, 1915.

R-L, Hugh A. Hopkins, Ausborne H. Chisholm, Evelyn F. Libby, Nellie (Tuttle) Libby, William Tufts.

Hugh was not a very tall man, though he doesn't appear that small here. He was only 5'3" and wore a man's size 3 shoe. He also had an incredibly high instep. He never married.

Held by Krista Sweetser, great-granddaughter of Nellie. Found hanging in the home of Nellie's granddaughter, Nellie Chisholm Karpowich in Poland, Maine.
