"When James Floyd Amos was born on February 24, 1925, in Rutherfordton, North Carolina, his father, William, was 25 and his mother, Mary, was 24. He had one son and one daughter with Pauline "Polly" Higgins. He died on November 21, 2004, in Selah, Washington, at the age of 79, and was buried in Yakima, Washington."

Per Federal Census records, James was the second of eight children (six sons & two daughters) born to William Van & Mary Etta (Boone) Amos.

James enlisted in US Navy during WW-II. As pa Fireman 1st class, he was stationed aboard the USS Traw (DE-350); a John C. Butler-class destroyer escort when it was first placed into service. His ship was primarily home-ported out of Norfolk, Virginia — performing convoy escort duties in the Atlantic.

His marriage to Pauline "Polly" Higgins — at this point we have neither marriage or divorce dates — but found the below/confirmed it was him with a visual inspection of record image; his YOB & POD matched. "PJ"
