Mr. Fleming was born the son of John Wesley and Matha Jane (Sessums) Fleming.

His siblings were: Velma Elizabeth, Newton Brown (1882-1954), Joseph Ernest (1885), Jessie Lee (1889-1971) and Mamie Gladys (1896-1966).

On 11 July 1916 he and Beulah Etta McClure were united in marriage in Purcell, McClain Co., OK.

Two of their 5 children served in WWII:

1. PFC Louis Harlan Fleming, US Army WWII Pacific Theatre, died on the Peleliu Battlefield, Palau Islands, Philippines, 322nd Infantry Regiment 81st Infantry Division "Wildcats", in 1944, and is buried at Fort Gibson, OK.

2. Clarence Wilburn, 32nd Bomb Squadron, 1942 - 1945, # 92879041

3. Leo M., 1 Aug 1922, Purcell, - 22 Dec 2004, OKC. Raised in Smithville. OK, on the family farm and graduated from Smithville High School, 1943; US Army, Pacific, WWII; Assoc. Degree, Elec. Eng. OSU, Stillwater, OK. Md Pauline Bohanan 6 Sept 1948. Burial: Resurrection Memorial Cemetery, OKC. # 65745123

4. Connie Robertson, 21 Feb 1926, Purcell- 25 Nov 2009, OKC.
